Toni Ruland
Girls Varsity Head Coach
Coach Toni is a VCHS alumni class of 2019. She began playing in middle school all the way up to her senior year; she was awarded offensive player of the year and MVP. Toni was captain on Varsity for three years and in 2022 was the Asst. Varsity coach alongside her HS coach before taking over the program in 2023.
Payton Rutherford
Boys Varsity Head Coach
Coach Payton is a VCHS Alumni class of 2019. He started playing lacrosse in 7th grade and played all the way through high school. Payton played 4 years of varsity Lacrosse as the faceoff specialist and midfielder. He coached middle school lacrosse in 2020 and was the assistant HS coach in 2022 before stepping up to be the head coach in 2023.
Diane Lawrance
Girls Varsity Asst. Coach
Coach Lawrance is a San Diego Native who begun playing in high school and continued her playing career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She has her masters in athletic training and had been working as a high school athletic trainer in San Diego until 2022. At that time, she changed careers and became a PE teacher at VCHS. In 2023 Coach Lawrance was the assistant coach for the VCHS girls lacrosse program.
Max Smith
Boys Varsity Asst. Coach
Coach Max is also a VCHS Alumni from the class of 2019. Max began playing lacrosse in 8th grade and played year round through high school. Max played 4 years of varsity lacrosse as a defensemen. Max was a HS assistant coach in 2021, he took a year off before returning to coach again in 2023 alongside his former teammate.
